El Nido on the Philippine island of Palawan has recently been recognised as one of the most beautiful untouched paradises in not just Southeast Asia but the whole world. Yet as its a given that natural beauty and remoteness go hand in hand, the fact that the wifi situation in El Nido is pretty terrible (read super super terrible) comes as no shock, to say the least. It’s actually the worst place we visited in terms of connectivity during our whole month in The Philippines.

Although having a good internet connection doesn’t matter when you’re exploring El Nido’s natural wonders, if you need to book a flight/hostel/bus or like me, need the internet to work remotely, it can become a huge drag. But believe it or not, I did find a couple of places where the wifi was good to work online. And here are the top 2 with the best wifi in El Nido, particularly around its centre.

2. Art Cafe

Art Cafe doesn’t have the best wifi in El Nido, but it’s pretty good when it wasn’t cutting out! Choose to sit outside on the balcony overlooking the bay, or grab a seat on one of the benches. There’s plenty of plug sockets dotted around too, so you can work and charge at the same time. The menu here is really varied too – so whether you’re going for an early morning coffee to a late night supper, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

1. V and V Bagel

The cute little cafe of V and V Bagel, had the best wifi in El Nido, hands down. The internet connection was very reliable and even quite speedy for Philippines standards. They also served up some pretty tasty food. The menu is focused on the tastes of New York. So think bagels, burgers and pasta. Oh and some really amazing cheesecake! The cafe is open throughout the day and evening, so you can stop by anytime to get both your online and western food fix at the same time!
