So you’re looking at how to get from Suvarnabhumi airport to Khao San Road? Luckily, as Khao San Road is such a popular area for backpackers to stay, with lots of hostels and cheap hotels, there are plenty of ways to easily get from Suvarnabhumi airport to Khao San Road. Read on and you’ll find all the information you need to decide which way is best for you.

Suvarnabhumi Airport to Khao San Road by shuttle bus

The shuttle bus is, in my opinion, the best way to get from the airport to Khao San Road. It’s certainly one of the cheapest anyway. Tickets cost just 60THB, the journey takes around 45 minutes and it drops you right off on the road. To find the right stop at the airport you’ll need to walk out of exit 7 on the ground floor (not the first floor as we did!), cross the road towards the buses and look for the S1 shuttle bus. They leave around every 30 minutes, so you shouldn’t have too long to wait, and once on the bus, the conductor will come round to collect payment.

Suvarnabhumi Airport to Khao San Road by taxi

This is definitely the fastest way to get from Bangkok’s airport to Khao San Road, but also the most expensive. Once outside the terminal, you’ll find lots of taxis waiting to take you to your final destination. And as a general rule of thumb, they should cost no more than 450TBH. Be mindful that you will also have to pay a 50TBH airport tax and a 70TBH tollway a charge which, if you prearrange the price, will either be included and paid by the driver or paid separately by you, so make sure you ask!

Suvarnabhumi Airport to Khao San Road by Airport Rail Link

This option is the cheapest, but potentially the more complicated way to get to Khao San Road. The main problem being that the old part of the city isn’t well connected by the metro with the closest stop on the Airport Rail Link still being over 5km away from Khao San Road. Therefore you’ll need to get the rail link to Phaya Thai station, where it terminates. Tickets cost just 45TBH, and from there either hop on the 59 bus for 16 stops, with tickets costing 15THB or get a taxi the rest of the way.
